Glenn Harrington
Bucks County artist creates extraordinary moments from ordinary life

Glenn Harrington has always been inspired by the drama he finds in everyday situations. Now, after spending time working on a series of paintings based on Shakespearean plays and sonnets, Harrington is continuing this dramatic influence in a series of figurative paintings based on his own imagination and experiences.

"I'm painting my own stories now" , says Harrington. " These are images designed from my encounters with people and spaces, extraordinary moments from ordinary life."

For Harrington the interiors of a specific scene can, at times, tell as much about the character the person in the painting as the actual figure itself.

"I love painting the interiors, " says Harrington. "How a person change the room into which they've entered interests me. We spend much of our time inside created spaces but interiors can be lifeless until someone enters. I hope to relay to the viewer the feeling the sitter has while they are there. If you take the people out of the painting, they lose their meaning. Edward Hopper is a classic example of the moods created by juxtaposing figures and environments." more...
