Glenn Harrington continued
Harrington
believes that, as an artist, it is also important to be truthful
to what's in front of you in order to bring a certain sense of honesty
to artistic observations.
"Patient
observation reveals reality, then we are free to interpret imaginatively,
" says Harrington. "God is in the variety, I'm astonished at the
diversity and beauty of the human form. What excites me is contrasting
the linear, architectural elements of a room to the curvilinear
forms and individual characteristics of people. People always inspire
the work.
And, for collectors, Harrington hopes that their
experience in looking at the work is similar to this experiences
while painting them.
"Ultimately,
I want them to see and feel what I saw when I was painting them,
" says Harrington. "And, to recognize a certain level of draftsmanship."
Harrington
also thinks that viewers can be taken in by the people he presents
in each painting. more... |
