Glenn
Harrington portrays the Bucks County landscape and portraits of
real people in a landscape setting (Cedar Maze: Alyssa).
This
Pipersville artist, who became a full-time painter after a successful
career as an illustrator, is no colorist, instead favoring moody
tonality and a judicious selection of lighting effects that reinforce
a sense of drama in several of his best paintings.
There
is more to these oils than mere picturesqueness because this artist's
feel for strong contrast and his well-honed technical ability confer
a knowledgeable rather than inevitable cast on things. We stay interested
in Harrington because a landscape such as his Bend in the
Canal glows with the promise of a new beginnings.
